Welcome to Eureka City Schools Food Services Department

The Spring equinox brings forth several exciting new produce options for Eureka City Schools

April kicks off a new partnership with Veritable Vegetables, a women-owned and led organic produce company based in San Francisco, CA that was established in 1974.

With the addition of Veritable Vegetables, and our continued partnership with the North Coast Growers' Association's Harvest Hub, ECS Food Services is proud to continue the commitment to support local and provide access to farm fresh options to our District students through our school cafeteria lines.  These two organizations continue to allow our team to further our existing relationships with local food producers and foster new partnerships with farmers throughout the state of California.

In the coming months, we are excited to see the local produce coming through the pipeline as leeks, spinach, summer-squash, strawberries, blueberries, peaches, plums, pears, and pluots become ready to be offered in our District's 4 elementary school sites, 2 middle school sites, 2 high school sites, and Winzler Children's Center.

Thanks to the Harvest Hub, below is a better snapshot of what Humboldt county farmers will be offering this Spring and Summer.

Both the Central Kitchen and Eureka High School crews continue to create dazzling salad varieties, home-made slaws, roasted root vegetables, and more in our District cafeterias!

We hope your student has been able to enjoy our new menu additions as well as local produce that continues to be highlighted weekly at our site cafeterias.  Spring definitely brings forth the gorgeous bounty that Humboldt county, and the State of California, has to offer as well as signals our upcoming transition into our 2024 Summer Meals program.

Be sure to check back in for more exciting things that ECS Food Services has to offer.
